Help the Dhale family celebrate
<span style="font-size:24px;line-height:32px"The drought in Marathwada and Vidharba has been terrible this year. Farmers who were able to get a yield of 8 – 10 quintals even without irrigation will barely manage 1 – 2 quintals per acre this year. What's worse is that many areas do not even have adequate drinking water.
<span style="font-size:24px;line-height:32px"Bandu and Pushpa Dhale are marginal farmers who own 3-acres of land in the region. Their daughter is due to be married on the 10th of February 2019. They have collected Rs. 20,000 of the Rs. 40,000 wedding budget from their saving and from their family and friends. The wedding is just 8 days away and they have not yet been able to collect the remaining money.
<span style="font-size:24px;line-height:32px"Their only option is a sahukar (moneylender) who will loan them the money at very high rates of interest. High-interest rates and the inability to pay them are more often than not the cause of farmer suicides. This is a joyous occasion for the Dhale family.
